CLEARFIELD – A Clearfield man accused of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl pleaded guilty Tuesday during sentencing court.
Kip Lynn Kolesar Jr., 27, was originally charged with 36 felony counts for his actions in the summer and fall of 2021.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, the assaults occurred at the Expo 2 Building at the Clearfield Fairgrounds where Kolesar oversaw “Max’s Revenge Haunted Attraction,” a baseball field in West Decatur and in a vehicle along Coaldale Road in Rush Township.
Most of the incidents happened in the vehicle, with one assault each at the other locations, police said.
Kolesar was also reportedly supplying alcoholic beverages to underage children who worked with him at the haunted attraction where he was the manager.
All the assaults happened during the summer and fall of 2021.
Prior to sentencing Tuesday, the victim’s mother addressed the court, saying he recruited kids for his business and then gave them alcohol and drugs. Her daughter now suffers from anxiety and “is never going to be the same.”
She asked Judge Paul E. Cherry to give Kolesar the maximum sentence so he cannot “do this again.”
The victim also spoke, explaining she has nightmares and post-traumatic stress disorder.
“He broke me both mentally and physically,” she said. “Every day I have to deal with what he did to me.”
Kolesar said he is “very sorry” for what happened. While in the county jail for the last eight months, he said he has learned a lot and thinks he might still be able to have a positive life.
Cherry asked what he was thinking being with a 14-year-old.
“Your actions will affect her for years and years to come. I hope you get the help you desperately need.”
Cherry then sentenced him to serve five to 10 years in state prison for two counts of statutory sexual assault and aggravated indecent assault person less than 16-years-old. He must also serve three years consecutive probation and complete sex offender counseling.
After an assessment, it was determined he does not meet the criteria of a sexually-violent predator. Because of the nature of the charges, he will still have to register with authorities under Megan’s Law.
He is prohibited from having any unsupervised contact with anyone under the age of 18.
