CLEARFIELD –A Clearfield man convicted of having over 90 grams of methamphetamine was sentenced to state prison Monday.
Robert Charles Lombardo, 30, was found guilty of felony possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and three misdemeanor counts of possession of drug paraphernalia after a trial in August.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, troopers were dispatched to the Harbor Inn in Decatur Township, in response to a disturbance on Jan. 20.
While investigating the incident, a trooper made contact with Lombardo in one of the rooms where he saw a bag of methamphetamine in plain view on the bed.
After Lombardo was taken into custody, he gave consent for the officers to search the room and his belongings.
Under the bed, authorities found a black bag containing 91.5 grams of methamphetamine, 31 pills of dextroamphetamine, two spoons and a scale.
When questioned, Lombardo admitted the items belonged to him, according to the criminal complaint.
Prior to sentencing Monday, Jendi Schwab, attorney for Lombardo, asked for him to be eligible for the state drug treatment program, claiming that he has acknowledged he has a drug problem.
First Assistant District Attorney Leanne Nedza responded by saying she was not opposed to him getting treatment for drug abuse, but she didn’t believe he was acknowledging he has a problem.
“I think he is asking for this to have a lesser sentence,” she commented.
Judge Paul Cherry sentenced him to serve four to eight years in state prison.
In a second case, he pleaded guilty to misdemeanor counts of possession of a
controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia for which he must pay fines and costs.
