CURWENSVILLE – Measure precipitation in your own backyard with CoCoRaHS.
CoCoRaHS is an acronym for the Community Collaborative Rain, Hail and Snow Network. CoCoRaHS is a unique, non-profit, community-based network of volunteers of all ages and backgrounds working together to measure and map precipitation (rain, hail and snow).
By using low-cost measurement tools, stressing training and education, and utilizing an interactive Web site, the aim is to provide the highest quality data for natural resource, education and research applications. CoCoRaHS is now in all 50 states.
People of any age are welcome to be guests of the Clearfield County Senior Environment Corps at its monthly meeting to find out what is involved with measuring precipitation in your own backyard with CoCoRaHS. This is a fun and valuable citizen science project!
The corps will offer a free precipitation measurement program Nov. 6, from 10 a.m. – 10:30 a.m., at the Curwensville Community Center, Curwensville. For more information or questions, please call 814-583-7926.
