The family and friends of Westin Cantolina are currently selling merchandise and raising funds to establish an endowment fund called the Be the Kindness Fund in his memory.
Danae Cantolina, Westin’s mother said “Westin was growing into such a well-rounded young man with many friends, interests and a bright future. It is our hope to establish an endowment fund that will help fulfill Westin’s legacy.
“Our main goal is to help students at both the Clearfield Area Junior-Senior High School and the Clearfield County Career and Technology Center fulfill their academic and career goals”.
Westin was an Honor Roll student who received several academic awards at the Clearfield Area Junior-Senior High School. He was a member of Future Farmers of America, the Honor Society, the West Branch Sportsman’s Club, the Outdoor Club and was a participant in the Envirothon and the Leadership Conference.
From a young age, he learned welding from his father William Cantolina and was accepted beginning August 2023 into the Welding & Fabricating Program at Clearfield County Career and Technology Center.
Westin loved the outdoors and was a sportsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting, hiking, boating, traditional archery and blacksmithing.
Using the blacksmithing talents learned from his father, Westin was very creative and had designed and made several beautiful knives.
All proceeds from the merchandise sale will go towards an endowment fund the Cantolina family is working to establish with the Clearfield County Charitable Foundation.
Danae Cantolina explained they are planning to name the fund the “Be the Kindness Fund in Memory of Westin Cantolina” to emphasize the kindness Westin showed towards everyone he met.
She said, “We want to continue to share Westin’s kindness with students at Clearfield Area Junior-Senior High School and Clearfield County Career and Technology Center through scholarships and grants and hope recipients will continue to Be the Kindness throughout their lives.”
Anyone interested in the available merchandise can text or call Danae Cantolina at 814-553-8328 or e-mail at danaecantolina@gmail.com.
Once the Be the Kindness Fund is established with the Clearfield County Charitable Foundation, the fund will accept donations from anyone interested in supporting the effort by making checks payable to Clearfield County Charitable Foundation / Be the Kindness Fund mailed to the Clearfield County Charitable Foundation, P.O.
