CLEARFIELD – Assistant Chief Julie Curry gave the first official report for the Clearfield Regional Police Department for the month of March at Tuesday’s Lawrence Township meeting.
Clearfield Regional Police officers handled 495 incidents ranging from but not limited to criminal arrests, DUIs, drug arrests, traffic stops, citations, assisting other agencies, warrants and accidents.
Ron Porter of the Lawrence Rec Park Board reported that the barbecue pit has been dug out and the conduit for the electric has been started.
Students from the Clearfield County Career & Technology Center (CCCTC) are working on pre-fabing the barbecue racks.
Lumber was ordered from Lezzer’s for new dug out benches and there was a discussion about installing batting cages at the cost of $4,000.
The Rec Park Board is also going to reach out to the Eagle Scouts to see if they would like to build four to six new benches for the park.
Code Enforcement Officer Agatha Lauder reported that 59 Deacon Rd., has been torn down and cleaned up. The supervisors approved to have the solicitor prepare the lien for the property.
There will also be a Zoning Hearing Board meeting on Wednesday, May 3 at 5 p.m. in regards to Gathagan Investment Company, a company that is inquiring about installing electric vehicle charging stations near Burger King.Â
Illegal dumping is also an issue again at the compost site. Residents are encouraged to be mindful when dropping things off at the site.
The supervisors accepted William “Pokey” White’s retirement from the Lawrence Township road crew, effective May 31. They thanked him for his many years of hard work and wished him well in his retirement.
The supervisors also voted to move forward with the stone storage building. T. English Construction won the bid for the building at last month’s meeting for $150,000.
Bids were opened for sealcoat and paving. The sealcoat bids were: Russell Standard: $89,621; Midland Asphalt Materials Inc: $92,876; Quaker Sales Corp.: $92,225; and Suit-Kote Corp: $78,380.40. The supervisors accepted the bid from Suit-Kote.
The paving bids were: HRI INC: $328,773.90; New Enterprise Stone & Lime Company Inc: $297,759.05; Glenn O Hawbaker Inc: $308,652; and Grannas Brothers Stone & Asphalt: $298,031.50. The supervisors accepted the bid from New Enterprise Stone & Lime.
It was noted there will be an upcoming controlled burn through the state Department of Conservation & Natural Resources at the Lawrence Rec Park for tick control.
