Dollar Tree, Family Dollar Revise Face Mask Policy

While most major retailers are making shoppers wear face masks/coverings due to the COVID-19 crisis, Dollar Tree and Family Dollar have opted to revise their policy.

Per a USA Today report, the two discount stores, which operate under Dollar Tree Inc., originally required their shoppers to wear face coverings as well as the store’s vendors and associates.

However, as of July 16, the company revised its policy to “request” that shoppers wear face coverings in its stores. Face coverings are still required where there’s a local or state ordinance.

“In accordance with guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), we are requiring all associates and vendors to wear face coverings when inside our stores,” states the updated company policy.

“We also request that our customers wear face coverings, and require face coverings where required by state or local ordinance.”

It was noted that the company is providing non-medical face coverings (required) and gloves (optional) to all its store associates to wear during their shifts.

Associates may also choose to wear their own gloves and cloth face coverings.

According to the CDC, face coverings are critical and could help reduce the spread of COVID-19.

Dollar Tree Inc. said it supports all local and state ordinances that require associates and shoppers to wear facial coverings and or gloves while in public.
