CLEARFIELD – A Coalport man is facing felony and misdemeanor charges for allegedly assaulting and threatening two people inside a convenience store.

Kenneth J. Selvage, 59, is charged by Trooper Robert J. Southern Jr. of the Clearfield-based state police with two felony counts each of aggravated assault and possession of firearm prohibited.

Selvage is also charged with two counts each of misdemeanor terroristic threats and recklessly endangering another person, misdemeanor simple assault and one summary.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, at approximately 11:34 p.m. Jan. 24, Southern responded to a reported assault at the Coalport Minit Mart.

At the scene, the trooper spoke with both victims who said a verbal altercation occurred when Selvage arrived, but it escalated when he retrieved a large, wooden club from his vehicle.

Selvage reentered the store and allegedly started to strike both victims about their head and body with the club.

He then retrieved a shotgun from his vehicle, reentered Minit Mart again and threatened the victims with bodily harm, Southern said. It was noted Selvage fled prior to state police arrival.

Selvage waived his right to a preliminary hearing Wednesday during centralized court at the Clearfield County Jail. His bail remains set at $100,000 monetary.
