ALLPORT – The Curwensville wrestling team picked up win number 10 on the 2019-20 season with a 40-27 victory over West Branch Thursday at Allport.
The Tide (10-8) never trailed in the match as Adam Straw started the night for Curwensville with a pin at 152 over Warrior Tyce Cantolina in 4:45. After the Warriors tied the score at 6-6 the Tide got a 7-2 decision win from Jake McCracken at 170 and then a 56 second fall from Duane Brady.

Once again West Branch drew close with a pin at 195 to cut the Tide margin to just 15-12.
At 220 pounds the Tide’s Brennen Moore picked up a forfeit giving the Curwensville a lead of 21-12.
But back came the West Branch squad with a fall at 285 putting the home team just three points behind Curwensville at 21-18 going into the lightweights.
The Golden Tide responded by winning the next three bouts as Jacob Carfley of Curwensville, wrestling at 106, defeated Landen Pase 5-1.
There was no match at 113, but at 120 Caleb Stiles picked up a 17-5 major decision for Curwensville that was then followed by Nik Fegert pinning Parker Johnson of West Branch in 3:23 giving the Tide an 34-18 edge.
The Tide won one more bout of the evening with Zach Holland getting a fall in 4:53 at 138.

On the night Holland picked up win number 24, against no losses, while Carfley gained his 21st.
Also, Jake McCracken now has 19 victories and Duane Brady 17 for Curwensville.
The Tide made it a clean sweep on the night, winning the Junior High bout 60-21.
Curwensville will compete in the District 9 “AA” Team Wrestling Championships against Johnsonburg at 10:00 am this Saturday at DuBois.
