DUBOIS – Commissioner-Elect Dave Glass spoke about several county board vacancies, namely the Clearfield County Planning Commission, at Monday night’s DuBois City Council meeting.

Glass said the county is seeking volunteers with municipal backgrounds to help fill vacancies on the planning commission. He also said there was a need for volunteers on the county’s Solid Waste Authority and Farmland Preservation Board.

City Manager John “Herm” Suplizio invited Glass as well as Clearfield County Commissioners John A. Sobel and Tony Scotto to visit city meetings to engage more with residents of the DuBois area.

Glass said he intended to visit and engage with other municipalities throughout the county.

Also, Monday night marked the last regular council meeting for DuBois City Mayor Gary Gilbert. He will turn the helm over to incoming Mayor Randy Schmidt during council’s reorganizational meeting Jan. 6.

In other business, council voted to accept a timber sale recommendation from its forestry consultant, Generation Forestry Inc. It was noted the consultant recommended Gutchess Lumber Co., Inc.

Council also passed the upcoming-year budget without a tax increase.
