State Police to Participate in “Click It or Ticket” Enforcement

HARRISBURG – Pennsylvania State Police troopers will once again participate in the “Click It or Ticket” traffic enforcement program through Sunday, Dec. 8.

If a motorist is stopped for a traffic violation and is not wearing a seatbelt, they will be issued two citations – one for the traffic violation and a second for the seatbelt violation.

During the enforcement, troopers will have a “zero-tolerance” policy towards any violation of the commonwealth’s seatbelt and child passenger restraint laws.

In conjunction with this aggressive enforcement approach, troopers – throughout Troop C – will conduct regulatory and child safety seat checkpoints.

According to state police, by buckling up and using child safety seats properly, you significantly increase your chances of surviving a motor vehicle crash.

Pennsylvania law also stipulates that children under the age of 8 years must be properly secured in a federally-approved child safety seat when riding anywhere in a vehicle.

Children who are age 2 years or under must be secured in a rear-facing child safety seat. So, to help parents safely transport children, troopers will conduct free child safety seat checks.

In Clearfield, a check will be held, from 2 p.m. – 6 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 27 at the Clearfield Volunteer Fire Department. For more information or appointments, please call 814-857-3800.

Troopers will examine all child restraint seats for proper installation, and parents will receive instructions on how to correct any deficiencies.

For more information, please visit the “Public Safety” section at www.psp.state.pa.us.
