WINGATE — The Clearfield Bison JV football team held an early 8-0 lead at Bald Eagle Area Monday night, but couldn’t hold on for the win and suffered a 12-8 loss, ending their three game win streak.
The first points of the game were scored on a botched punt attempt when the snap went out of the endzone and the visiting Bison were handed a 2-0 lead.
The second quarter saw the Bison extend their lead to 9-o when quarterback Caden Irwin hooked up with Nate Natoli for an 8-yard scoring strike. The failed conversion attempt saw the Bison with an 8-0 lead.
The Bison (3-3) were unable to cross the goal line again on the night as the host Eagles scored the final two touchdowns to set the final at 12-8.
Max Paul-Cook recovered a fumble and Jose Alban had an interception for the Bison defense in the low scoring affair.
Next Monday’s final game will be played against Ridgway, as a replacement for Philipsburg-Osceola, at a site to be determined.
