JORDAN TOWNSHIP – Details have been released in relation to a fatal crash that occurred Thursday morning in Jordan Township, Clearfield County.

According to Clearfield-based state police, the crash occurred at approximately 9:10 a.m. on Glen Hope Boulevard about one-mile north of Irvin Lane.

State police say that 81-year-old Neil D. Buckwalter of Houtzdale was traveling north in his pick-up truck and negotiating a left-hand turn in the roadway.

At the same time, 40-year-old Nicholas N. Ninosky of LaJose was traveling south in his flat-bed tractor-trailer and negotiating a right-hand turn.

For unknown reasons, Buckwalter’s truck reportedly contacted the double-yellow centerline, and then impacted the trailing unit of Ninosky’s tractor-trailer.

State police say Buckwalter was pronounced dead on-scene by the Clearfield County Coroner’s office. His truck sustained heavy damage.

Ninosky wasn’t injured in the crash and his trailing unit sustained disabling damage.

State police were also assisted by the Glen Hope Fire Company, Glendale Fire Company, Madera Fire Company and Emergency Medical Services and PennDOT.

The crash remains under investigation by a Pennsylvania State Police Troop C Collision Analysis and Reconstruction specialist, according to the report.
