WOODWARD TOWNSHIP – State police in Clearfield have launched an investigation after approximately $500,000 worth of water main lines were damaged in Woodward Township.

The damage occurred sometime between 8 p.m. Aug. 22 and 6 a.m. Wednesday in the area of Third Street and Kendrick Road, according to a news release issued by Trooper Derek Southern.

In commission of the crime, the suspect(s) allegedly drilled small holes in 400-foot sections of water main lines that were eight inches in diameter.

Southern said the lines were staged along the roadway to be installed. He said the suspect(s) drilled approximately 500 holes through the lines, then fled the scene.

He said the damage makes the water main lines “unsalvageable,” and C&R Directional Boring LLC of Clearfield is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Southern at the state police at Clearfield at 814-857-3800.
