CLEARFIELD – A wanted Clearfield man will be facing new charges for leading police on a pursuit.

An officer attempted to stop a motorcyclist Sunday in the area of the Clearfield-Shawville Highway and Woodland Road, according to a news release issued by Lawrence Township police.

However, he reportedly fled when emergency lights were activated on the police unit, and he passed vehicles and made multiple traffic violations on Woodland Road.

During the pursuit, the motorcyclist turned onto a dirt alley and accelerated at a high rate of speed before losing control and crashing into a ditch, police say.

When the vehicular pursuit ended, the motorcyclist took off on foot. However, he was apprehended a short time later, and identified as 52-year-old Randall Hipps of Clearfield.

Hipps was wanted on multiple outstanding warrants and was driving with a suspended license. He was also suspected of being under the influence of a controlled substance, police say.

Police transported Hipps to the Clearfield Penn Highlands Hospital for a legal blood draw. He was then housed in county jail on the warrants.
