Lawrence Township

  • Police reported on a drug-related DUI that occurred Friday on the Clearfield-Curwensville Highway. During a traffic stop, contact was made with a 57-year-old Renfrew, Pa. woman and officers detected an odor of marijuana. A subsequent search of her vehicle allegedly uncovered marijuana and two smoking devices. Through further investigation, officers determined the woman was under the influence of multiple controlled substances, and she was taken to the Clearfield Penn Highlands Hospital for a legal blood draw. Later she was housed in county jail on a 48-hour detainer; charges are currently pending at this time.
  • Police received a report about a possible domestic incident Thursday on White Church Road in Glen Richey. During the incident, a 60-year-old Morrisdale man allegedly smashed out the windows on a vehicle after a verbal altercation. Police say he was found to be under the influence of alcohol and had a warrant through Centre County. No charges were filed at the time of the incident, however.

According to police, the incident was over money, and those involved who lost money were advised to speak with the magistrate. They were also advised to have no further contact with each other.
  • Police received a report about an incident of harassment/stalking that occurred Wednesday on Carbon Mine Road in Clearfield. As a result, police made contact with both parties and a 27-year-old Clearfield woman was advised to have no further contact with a 34-year-old Clearfield man. She was also advised to discuss civil issues with the local magistrate.
  • Police reported on a traffic stop that resulted in a warrant service Wednesday in the area of River Road and Plaza Drive in Clearfield. According to police, a vehicle was stopped for an equipment violation, at which point it was discovered the driver – 34-year-old Jessica Hemphill of Olanta – had a suspended driver’s license. Through on-scene interviews, police ultimately identified her passenger as 33-year-old Joshua Baize of Clearfield, who had an active state parole warrant. However, Baize had allegedly provided a false name to law enforcement and Hemphill was aware of this. Baize was housed in county jail and has been charged with false identification to law enforcement; charges were also filed on Hemphill for hindering apprehension and several traffic violations.
  • Police recovered an HTC cell phone, which has a cracked screen, on Thursday. It was found in front of the Family Dollar store, located along South Second Street in Clearfield. Anyone with information should contact police.
