CLEARFIELD – A Woodland man was jailed Tuesday after police say they found homemade explosives and large quantities of drugs in his vehicle with his juvenile son inside.

Gene W. Robbins, 39, has been charged by Officer Zachary S. Cowan of the Lawrence Township police with felony manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver.

He’s also been charged with misdemeanor intentional possession of a controlled substance; use/possession of drug paraphernalia; make, repairs, sell, etc. offensive weapon; and endangering the welfare of children, plus five summaries.

The charges stem from a traffic stop that occurred at approximately 3:45 p.m. Tuesday in the Fullerton Street area in Lawrence Township, according to a news release issued by Cowan.

When contact was made with the driver of the vehicle, identified as Robbins, officers saw two apparent homemade explosive devices in plain view inside.

Robbins and his son were removed from the vehicle, and Robbins was placed under arrest. Two, separate search warrants were subsequently executed as part of the investigation.

In addition to the explosives, police allegedly located and seized 90 stamp bags of heroin; a large quantity of crystal methamphetamine; various pills identified as controlled substances and packaged separately; and a loaded syringe.

Lawrence Township police were assisted by the Pennsylvania State Police, PSP K-9 Units and the PSP Hazardous Devices Explosive Section (HDES).

Online court documents indicate Robbins was arraigned at 9:59 a.m. Wednesday before Magisterial District Judge Mike Morris. His bail was set at $250,000 monetary.

A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for July 3 during centralized court at the Clearfield County Jail.
