The Clearfield Revitalization Corp. (CRC) has been recognized for getting area youth involved in their community.

The CRC accepted a Townie Award at the annual Pennsylvania Downtown Center Statewide Conference on June 4 in Erie, Pa. More specifically, the CRC received the Chairman’s Award for Youth Involvement.

This award recognizes students who have demonstrated a commitment to particular community revitalization efforts. The benefits of a Townie Award are that it builds credibility, community pride and recognition for volunteers’ time and efforts.

Clearfield art students have made a yearly commitment to paint murals, make fall scarecrow decorations and paint holiday scenes in merchants’ windows downtown.

CRC Main Street Manager Loretta Wagner and board member the Rev. Robert Way accepted the award on behalf of the organization.

Wagner said this award wouldn’t have been possible without the Clearfield art students and their teachers, Leann Adams and Carleigh Kuntz.

“We would like to recognize the artistic talent in our community,” Way expressed, “as it’s highlighted by our youth receiving this award.”

“We’re very thankful and appreciative of the support … and that we’re able to showcase the students’ gifted talents in our community,” Adams added.

Wagner said the CRC is also thankful for the hard work and support from its volunteers, local businesses, the Susquehanna River Art Center of Clearfield and community.
