CLEARFIELD – The finish line is in sight for the Pine Grove North water main extension project for Clearfield Municipal Authority.

During Tuesday’s meeting, the board learned the majority of the project should be done by the beginning of June when the pump station is brought online and the tank filled and disinfected.

After that, the items remaining will be punch-list items and also getting customers connected. Those that connect now will have their tap fees waived, although they will have to pay for the lateral construction.

In the future, however, new customers will have to pay the authority’s tap-on fee.

The board also discussed some items regarding finances. The authority needs to replace a Ford F550 dump truck, which is about 13 years old and too small.

The board voted to purchase a 2019 Peterbilt 337 from Hunter Peterbilt at a cost of $121,581.10. The truck is being purchased under the state’s COSTARS program and through CBT Bank at a 3.15 percent rate for five years.

Fuel bids for diesel and gasoline were opened. One bid was received and that was from JJ Powell, with prices for both fixed and variable rates. The board voted to accept the variable bids at $2.229 for gasoline and $2.519 for diesel.

The board had two items for residents to be aware of. First, the water lines are being flushed this week and residents may see some turbidity in the water.

Also, the authority is updating the emergency notification system and trying to confirm customer contact phone numbers.

Customers can update their information by calling the office or writing the updated information on the back of their bill remittance.
