CLEARFIELD – A Houtzdale man has been accused of burglarizing a Bradford Township residence and detached garage.

Dana Noel Vaughn, 33, has been charged by Trooper Andrew Mills of the Clearfield-based state police with felony burglary and criminal trespass; two misdemeanor counts of DUI; and related offenses.

Vaughn waived his right to a preliminary hearing Wednesday during centralized court at the Clearfield County Jail. His bail is currently set at $30,000 monetary.

The charges stem from an incident April 14 on Shiloh Road in Bradford Township, according to the affidavit of probable cause.

The caller reportedly observed a tan passenger car parked in the driveway, and someone was shining a flashlight into the windows.

Upon arrival on-scene, troopers approached the residence and observed Vaughn as he walked out of the garage.

It was learned he didn’t have permission to be there or inside, and he’d allegedly forced entry into the residence and detached garage.

State police said he broke a window in order to get inside the residence from which he carried out stereo equipment.

Vaughn sat the equipment beside the door before entering the garage and allegedly breaking the driver’s side window of the victim’s Ford Sport Trac.

State police determined Vaughn had parked his car in the driveway, just prior to their arrival. During the encounter, a trooper detected the odor of alcohol on Vaughn’s breath and person.

His eyes were reportedly bloodshot and glassy, and he admitted to having consumed alcoholic beverages.

Vaughn was administered a Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus Test (HGNT), and displayed signs of impairment. He also submitted to a preliminary breath test, which indicated for the presence of alcohol.

State police transported Vaughn to the barracks for processing and also administered a chemical test of breath, which indicated his BAC was .146 percent, according to the affidavit.
