Bison Track Teams Compete at Mars HS Invitational; Boys Third

Taye Lynch was the boys field MVP of the Mars HS Invitational

MARS, Pa — The Clearfield Area High School track and field teams competed at the 24-team Mars Area high School Invitational on Friday April 26.

The boys continued their strong season, undefeated at 7-0, with a third place finish, scoring 52 points to only place behind host Mars with 59 points and North Hills with 54 points.

Taye Lynch was the boys field MVP of the Mars HS Invitational

Leading the charge was Taye Lynch, who was named the boys MVP for the field events. Lynch was the champion in the triple jump, while adding seconds in the high and long jumps.

Trevor Franek managed two top finishes, placing fourth in both the 100 and 400 meter dashes.

Jeremiah Vezza also placed high in two events with his third in the 1600 meter run and sixth place finish in the 3200.

Freshman Karson Kline claimed the fourth spot in the 110 meter hurdles and Jason Plubell was fifth in the 300 meter hurdles.

The Bison 4×400 relay team of Logan Firanski, Trevor Franek, Simon Quigley, and Ian Billotte placed third. Billotte also added a seventh in the triple jump.

The top finishers on the girls side for the Lady Bison were third placers Avry Grumblatt in the 400 meter dash and Amanda Hazel in the 300 meter hurdles.

Madi Davis placed seventh in the 200 meter dash, as did the 4×400 relay team of Lydia Brown, Hazel, Grumblatt, and Davis.

Next up for the teams is the Altoona High School Invitational on May 3.
