CLEARFIELD – April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month, and events will be held to generate awareness.

Locally, the Child Advocacy Center of Clearfield County will offer free, online “Darkness to Light Stewards Plus” training, announced District Attorney William A. Shaw Jr. on Tuesday.

He said the training, which is open to the public, will instruct individuals on how to identify and report child abuse.

He said anyone interested can e-mail cac@cenclear.org to enroll in the training, noting spots are limited and to apply quickly.

Shaw also encouraged individuals to participate in other local events. He said Cen-Clear Child Services will host two in April, and more information is available at www.cenclear.org.

Any individual or group interested in hosting an event to raise awareness of Child Abuse Prevention should please e-mail cac@cenclear.org for more information.

“This month and throughout the year, the CAC-CC encourages all individuals and organizations to play a role in making Clearfield County a better place for children and families,” Shaw said.

“By ensuring parents have the knowledge, skills and resources, …. we can help promote social and emotional well-being for all children and prevent child maltreatment within families and communities.”
