CLEARFIELD – The U.S. National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for portions of central Pennsylvania, including Clearfield County. The Winter Storm Watch is in effect from Thursday at 7 a.m., until Friday at 10 a.m.
According to the weather advisory, heavy mixed precipitation is possible. Total snow and sleet accumulations of three to six inches and ice accumulations of around one-tenth of an inch are also possible. Total snow amounts will be highly dependent upon how much sleet mixes in.
The onset of mixed precipitation is forecasted to fall mid-morning Thursday, continuing at various rates Thursday afternoon into Friday morning.
Motorists should plan for difficult travel conditions, including during the evening commute on Thursday. Significant reductions in visibility are possible.
“There is the potential for significant winter weather that may impact travel. Continue to monitor forecasts and review winter weather safety and preparedness information at weather.gov/winter,” the advisory stated.
