As work to improve more than 41 miles of roadway continues in Centre and Clinton counties, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is issuing an update on its project schedule.

Overall work includes milling, base repair, resurfacing, curbing, sidewalks and guide rail updates on sections of seven routes in Centre County and five in Clinton County.

In Centre County, work through Oct. 26 is scheduled as follows:

  • Saturday, Oct. 20, through Friday, Oct. 26, the contractor will continue milling and paving operations on Route 3042 (Skytop Mountain Road) from Laurel Run to Port Matilda.

In Clinton County, work through Oct. 23 is scheduled as follows:

  • Saturday, Oct. 20, through Tuesday, Oct. 23, the contractor will continue paving operations on Route 1016 (Central Avenue) from Avis to Pine Creek.

A daylight alternating traffic pattern will be in place and controlled by flaggers in the roadway. Short travel delays should be expected and drivers should be alert for slow moving and stopped vehicles through the work zone. All work is weather and schedule dependent.

Glenn O. Hawbaker Inc. of State College is the contractor on this $6.8 million project, which is expected to finish by late October.
