CLEARFIELD – Barking dogs have been causing radio interference issues for Clearfield County 911.
At Tuesday’s Clearfield County Commissioners’ meeting, Emergency Services Director Joe Bigar reported the agency is currently experiencing the issues on its police radio.
According to Bigar, the barking dogs are audible at different times of the day. The interference also appears to be coming from the Clearfield and Lawrence Township area.
He said it’s possible someone purchased a radio system, programmed it to transmit rather than receive and left the voice activation on.
“We currently have our radio specialists working to find the unauthorized radio causing the issues,” he said. “We will also be contacting the Federal Communication Commission, if needed.”
Commissioner Mark B. McCracken and Bigar explained that anyone who believes their barking dogs and radio are causing the issues and who contacts the agency will not be fined, if cooperative.
“We want them to call so these guys can … help them set up their radio properly,” McCracken said. Bigar doesn’t believe it’s happening purposefully, and said the main goal is to stop it for public safety.
Anyone who has information to identify the barking dogs is asked to contact the 911 Center at its non-emergency number at 814-765-1533.
In other business, the commissioners:
- approved the bills as presented by the Controller’s Office.
- approved the re-appointment of Don Foster as the farmer director to the Clearfield County Conservation District.
- approved a lease agreement between the county and the John E. DuBois Fire Company.
