CLEARFIELD – Two of the three out-of-state men involved in a traffic stop that allegedly turned up a huge sum of cash, marijuana and an illegal firearm were scheduled for hearings Wednesday.
Hassan Ali Sheikh, 22, of Columbus, Ohio and Isaiah O. Mokeme, 22, of South Portland, Maine, have been charged by the Pennsylvania State Police with felony counts of dealing in proceeds of unlawful activities and firearms not to be carried without a license and a misdemeanor count of marijuana/small amount for personal use.
Both Sheikh and Mokeme had all charges held for county court following a preliminary hearing Wednesday at the Clearfield County Jail.
Online court documents indicate that bail was previously set at $100,000 monetary for both Sheikh and Mokeme. Sheikh has remained incarcerated while Mokeme posted bail Sept. 10.
The charges stem from a traffic stop on a Jeep Grand Cherokee at approximately 12 p.m. Sept. 7 on Interstate 80 westbound in Graham Township, according to the affidavit of probable cause filed with the office of Magisterial District Judge Jerome Nevling.
Co-defendant Jebrel S. Ennaw, 24, of Auburn, Maine and Mokeme were located in the driver’s and passenger’s seats. Shiekh was located in the rear, driver’s side passenger seat.
A state trooper detected a strong odor of marijuana emitting from within the vehicle. A probable cause search was subsequently conducted and an aftermarket compartment was located under the driver’s seat.
The compartment appeared to contain 16, $10,000 bundles, or approximately $160,000 in cash. There was also a Glock handgun found inside; bags of marijuana were recovered from the center console, glove box and stuffed under the rear passenger’s side seat.
Ennaw faces the same set of charges and his bail was previously set at $100,000 in his case, which he’s posted, according to online court documents. Ennaw’s hearing is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Oct. 10 at the jail.
