CLEARFIELD – Clearfield Arts Studio Theatre Inc. (CAST) is currently enjoying a busy month with eight sold-out performances of Grease. However, it’s also announcing future events.
Auditions for its next major production, Nevermore: The Imaginary Life & Mysterious Death of Edgar Allan Poe, will be Sunday, Aug. 26 from 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. and Monday, Aug. 27 from 6 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
This is a unique and wildly theatrical musical play combining haunting music, poetic storytelling and stunning stagecraft to tell the fascinating and moving life story of iconic American writer Edgar Allan Poe.
A literary rock star in his day, Poe struggled with tragedy and addiction, poverty and loss, yet produced some of the world’s most original,
visionary and enduring literature before dying in unexplained circumstances at the age of 40.
At once gorgeous and grotesque, this show blurs the line between fact and fiction. Show dates are Oct. 18-20 and 25-27 at 7:30 p.m.
Those auditioning should prepare a song that showcases their voice and bring either an accompaniment CD or have music on their phone.
There will also be readings and character work done at the audition. Gayle Gearhart and Robert Roxby will direct this production.
CAST also announces that the Clearfield Community Band will present a free concert at CAST on Tuesday, Aug. 21 at 7 p.m. Donations will be collected to benefit CAST.
Then, on Saturday, Aug. 25 at 6 p.m., CAST will host another free concert with local Christian bands Heavenbound, Awakening and Fervent Worship. Again, this is a free concert, but donations will be collected to benefit CAST.
CAST is a non-profit arts center located at 112 E. Locust St., in the heart of downtown Clearfield. For more information, please call 814-765-4474 or visit www.ClearfieldArts.org.
