SANDY TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) – State police have released the details of a Wednesday afternoon crash in Sandy Township that claimed the life of one person and hospitalized another.

According to Dubois-based state police, around 3:25 p.m. Wednesday, July 18, Linda S. Robinson, 73, of Port Richey, Fla., was operating a 2008 Lincoln-Continental Town Car, traveling east on Interstate 80 in the left lane just east of Sher De Lin Road in Sandy Township, Clearfield County.

State police say the vehicle traveled off the left side of the roadway near mile-marker 102, and when Robinson attempted to steer back on to the roadway, she lost control of the vehicle.

According to state police, the vehicle then traveled across both lanes and hit an embankment along the right side of the roadway causing the vehicle to roll on to its roof.

Robinson was wearing her seatbelt and suffered serious injuries. She was flown from the scene by LifeFlight.

Robinson’s passenger, Carl B. Shultz, 77, of Haines City, Fla., was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash but was partially ejected from the vehicle.

He was pronounced dead at the scene by Clearfield County Coroner Kim Shaffer Snyder.

Sandy Township Volunteer Fire Department and EMS, Dusan EMS, and Sandy Township Police Department assisted at the scene.
