CLEARFIELD – A number of items were briefly discussed and voted on during the short Lawrence Township Supervisors’ meeting on Tuesday night.
Warren Bartholomew, resident of Goldenrod, asked if the supervisors had reached any decisions regarding zoning at the River’s Bend area.
The supervisors haven’t. However, Supervisor Randy Powell indicated that he and Supervisor Jeremy Ruffner met with an attorney who specializes in municipal law.
He said that they determined that the tax number on the maps, that had been in question at the meeting July 10, indicates development areas Phase III and IV as well as a portion of Phase II in the River’s Bend area.
Code Enforcement Officer Debra Finkbeiner reminds citizens that while the state has changed rules regarding fireworks, there are still restrictions on where they can be fired due to fall radius.
She also reminds residents of a need for building permits for pools. Residents who have received letters regarding inflow and infiltration are also reminded to make arrangements to have work done as soon as possible.
Roadmaster Ron Woodling reported that the two back-up systems for the batteries, which keep the batteries charged, at the traffic light near Lowe’s are shot and need replaced.
A refurbished one costs $1,400 with no warranty, but a new one costs $1,900 with a one-year warranty. The supervisors voted to replace the systems with new ones.
Woodling also reported that a grant was received for work on Hogback and Evans roads and the supervisors voted to advertise for bids for driving surface aggregate.
At the end of the meeting, Powell stated that letters had been sent to representatives of Clearfield Municipal Authority asking township representatives to attend township meetings and only one has been attending.
He motioned to send letters to the other two members, Russ Triponey and Greg Dixon, and ask for their resignations. There was a question as to whether the supervisors can ask for resignations and Powell said they would find out.
