CURWENSVILLE – The Curwensville Football Booster Club, with the help of Novey Recycling, held its first-ever scrap metal drive.
The event was a great success based upon community participation and the willingness of football players, coaches and parents to give up portions of their weekend to help with the scrap metal drive, said Operations Manager Mike Boal of Novey Recycling.
Carrie Warren, on behalf of the football boosters, said “We wanted to send a thank you to all that made our scrap fundraiser a success.
“The club is very thankful for all the support of the community. It was very awesome to see the boys working together. We are excited to work with you all again in the future.”
The football players were able to gather 32,945 pounds of assorted metals and raised $2,718.52 from the scrap metal drive. Novey Recycling also donated its services to help with the event.
Boal said, “It was great to see not only football players, but also parents and coaches all working together at the collection site. This fundraiser shows that hard work and participation from the community can go a long way.
“Knowing there were coaches and parents willing to take the football players to someone’s house to gather scrap metal, which a resident had no way to deliver, shows team work both on and off the field pays off.
“We picked up three containers full of scrap metal, along with two automobiles and Mr. Fulmer delivered three pick-up truck loads to our yard.”
