CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield County Commissioners approved the county’s Human Services Plan on Tuesday.
The plan was presented by Lisa Kovalick, community development specialist, during the commissioners’ work session.
Kovalick prepared the plan for submission to the commonwealth’s Department of Human Services (DHS).
According to her, this year the county has planned state and federal expenditures of $3,722,678 to serve 2,772 people with mental health services. The county’s match is $146,908.
Kovalick said that the county’s plan also has $1,782,367 built in to provide 221 people with intellectual disabilities services, and the county’s match is $49,410.
She reported that funds for homeless assistance services remained flat at $57,920 and the county will be able to serve 95 people.
Kovalick also said under the plan, funds for substance abuse disorder services and human services development were $330,240 and $81,203, respectively.
In other business, the commissioners voted to approve:
- a sub-recipient agreement with the Clearfield Jefferson Drug and Alcohol Commission. It is for a grant to be given by the county to CJDAC for its Strengthening Families Program. The long-range goal for the SFP curriculum is reduced substance use and behavior problems during adolescence. Intermediate objectives include improved skills in nurturing and child management by parents, and improved interpersonal and personal competencies among youth. Parents of all educational levels are targeted and printed materials for parents are written at an eighth grade reading level. All parent sessions, two youth and two family sessions use videotapes portraying pro- social behaviors and are appropriate for multi-ethnic families.
- an agreement with Maximus to provide professional consulting services.
- a liquid fuel allocation to Boggs Township in the amount of $4,382.56.
