DUBOIS – A DuBois man facing several felony charges for stealing and cutting up a stolen vehicle waived his right to a preliminary hearing Friday.
Jeremiah W. Gallaher, 38, is charged with felony counts of owning, operating or conducting a chop shop, conspiracy and two counts each of theft and receiving stolen property. He is in the county jail in lieu of $15,000 bail.
The charges stem from an incident in March of 2016 after police were notified that a vehicle was being taken apart in Brady Township.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, the victims reported a 1990 Toyota Cellica and the trailer it was sitting on were stolen from a site in Brady Township.
Later a witness told police that Gallaher asked if he could park a trailer and car on their property. She said he was given permission to do this because her husband knew him.
The next day, Gallaher came back with Howard Cox Jr. and a third unknown male. The three of them then allegedly cut the vehicle into pieces. She believed they were cutting it to sell for scrap.
When a trooper responded to the scene, he identified the vehicle and trailer as the ones reported stolen.
In an interview with police, Cox said Gallaher asked him and a third male known only to him as “Rick” if they wanted to help him cut the car apart and sell it for scrap.
Cox, 33, pleaded guilty to receiving stolen property in May when he was sentenced to 90 days to one year in jail and one year consecutive probation.
