CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield County Sheriff’s Department is warning the public of a phone scam.
According to Sheriff Michael Churner, a caller is falsely claiming to be “Deputy Sheriff Mark Davis.” He is demanding money for failure to respond to various court-related orders.
The caller has been targeting local doctors and possibly other area residents. “We strongly urge area businesses and residents to ignore all such calls,” Churner said.
Churner noted that the Sheriff’s Department will not handle court-related matters in that manner. Anyone who has questions or concerns is encouraged to contact the department at 814-765-2641.
