CURWENSVILLE – The Curwensville Lady Tide softball squad had a home make-up game on Saturday afternoon against the Lady Crusaders of Elk County Catholic (ECC) in a contest that had been originally scheduled for April 4.

In the end the Lady Crusaders pulled out a 9-7 win over Curwensville.

ECC jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead after two innings thanks to scoring four runs in the top half of the first inning.

Curwensville stayed in the game, and actually had it tied at six apiece after four innings, thanks to a five run bottom of the fifth inning.

Three in the top of the fifth did the trick for the Lady Crusaders as Curwensville would only tally one more run on the afternoon.

The Lady Tide picked up two hits each from Sabrina Spencer and Abby Pentz, who also both smacked a double on the day.

Curwensville catcher Bailey Bloom also picked up a double.

Josie Smith had three hits for ECC, one being a double, while Jenna Weisner and Reina Nero had two hits each. One of Weisner’s hits was a solo home run in the top half of the second inning.

Nero ended the game with four RBI’s for Elk County Catholic.

Michelle Gerber and Sadie Van Alstein connected for Lady Crusader two-baggers.

Next up for the Lady Tide (2-3) will be another make-up game that was originally scheduled for April 9. It will be Johnsonburg traveling to Curwensville for a 4:15 pm battle on Monday.
