
Catherine J. ‘Kitty’ Owens, 70, of Clearfield died Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at her home.
She was born Jan. 13, 1948, a daughter of the late Harry Hahn Hinks and Edna Louise (Hooven) Dowd.
She retired from the Clearfield County Jail and Target Sportswear after 44 years of employment.
She enjoyed shopping with her children, playing on a dart team, hunting, camping and riding side-by-sides. She also enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was a member of Clearfield Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and the Curwensville Moose.
She is survived by her husband, Dean R. Owens, to whom she was wed Feb. 2, 1974, and her step-mother, Nancy Hinks of Mount Joy.
She is survived by four children, Robert Smith-Walker, Christopher Smith and his wife, Nikki and Wendy English and her husband, Tony, all of Clearfield, and Jason Owens and his wife, Nichole of Hyde; two grandchildren, Khorey Smith and his wife, Lisa and Kayla English; and three great-grandchildren, Cooper, Luke and Dominic.
She is also survived by two half-sisters, Barbara Ann Crawford-Brown and her husband of Reynoldsville and Joan Warner and her husband, Rick of Columbia; a half-brother, John Winsett and his wife, Tammy of York; three step-sisters, Alma Soult and her husband, Ben of Mount Joy, Bonnie Malone and her husband, Herb of Elizabethtown and Marilyn Hake and her husband, Timothy of Columbia; two step-brothers, Jesse Winsett and his wife, Beverly of Lebanon and Rick Winsett of Elizabethtown; 27 nieces and nephews; 69 great-nieces and nephews; and 15 great-great-nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Tommy Winsett of Lebanon and a sister-in-law, Pat Winsett of Elizabethtown.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield, with Pastor Scott Schultz officiating.
Friends will be received from 4 p.m. – 8 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
