CLEARFIELD – Carol Wilson discovered her passion for art early in life. At age 11, she took oil painting classes offered by Mrs. McNeil.
In 1980, she enrolled in the Art Institute in Pittsburgh to study visual communication.
However, her passion to express herself through art became dormant for nearly 16 years.
While residing in Naples, Fla., she attended an oil painting class that was under the guidance of William North.
North is a renowned Sanibel artist who is best known for his impressionist visions of Florida. He painted his work, “Naples Beach,” with oils.
During this time, Wilson’s passion for painting resurfaced with vigor. She became skilled with watercolors and developed her own technique and style.
Her recent watercolor, “Old Women Walking,” won first place at the 2017 SCRA Juried Show.
Wilson’s passion to paint has given her an avenue, where she can be challenged and express her creative ideas.
Wilson is the featured artist for the month of February. Her works can be viewed at the Joseph & Elizabeth Shaw Public Library.
