DUBOIS – Two men have been accused of stealing $4,700 worth of wedding gifts from a storage unit.

Randy Lee Burress, 41, DuBois and Vincent Edgar Siverling, 36, Rossiter, are charged with burglary, theft by unlawful taking and criminal trespass in connection with an incident in early December.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, the victim reported to Sandy Township police on Dec. 3 that someone had replaced her lock on her storage unit. The owner of the business was contacted and he confirmed he had not changed the lock.

When the unit was opened, the victim discovered that her wedding gifts and other items with a total value of $4,700 and some of her extra checks were missing.

The victim’s bank contacted her on Dec. 18 to report that someone had paid for merchandise at the Wal-Mart in Sandy Township using one of the missing checks.

An officer reviewing the surveillance video of the transaction spoke with an employee who was able to confirm the people in the video as Vincent Siverling and a female from Grampian.

The investigators traveled to the female’s address to question her. While there, they saw storage tubs containing items matching those stolen from the unit.

In an interview with police, Vincent Siverling allegedly said: “I did it. I took the stuff from the storage units. I needed the money.”

He was asked about the location of a specific heirloom gift given to the victim by her grandmother. Siverling would not reportedly say who had it, but said he would get it back.

Siverling and the female also told police that another man, Burress, was involved with the theft.

When Burress was questioned, he allegedly admitted to entering one of the storage units and removing items with Vincent Siverling.

He said Vincent Siverling also brought items to a garage rented by Burress even though he told him not to do this. Burress said he should have contacted police earlier, according to the report.

A preliminary hearing for Burress is scheduled for Friday, Jan. 12 and Siverling’s hearing is set for Feb. 2.
