On Dec. 8-10, the Pine Creek K-9 Search Unit held its winter evaluations. The unit had three dogs certified in man-trailing through the InterNational Bloodhound Training Institute (INBTI).

Each year, the K-9s and their handlers are tested through a 20-hour evaluation.  The K-9s and their handlers have to successfully prove their skills in search and man-trailing in order to be certified through INBTI.

Two teams were re-certified, which included K-9 Karma and handler Heather Dimmick and K-9 Moses and handler Carlee Hidinger.  Additionally, a third team – K-9 Benji and handler AJ Moore – were certified for the first time.

The Pine Creek K-9 Search Unit is available to assist any and all police, fire and other first responders in the search for lost, missing and wanted persons.

Please contact the Jefferson County 911 Center to dispatch the unit’s services.
