CLEARFIELD – A new business is nearing the final stages of construction in Clearfield Borough.

At Thursday’s Clearfield Borough Council work session, Code Enforcement Officer Larry Mack reported that Continental Carbonic is getting ready to “bring things on-line” at their new facility.

Mack said the ongoing work to construct the new plant has been progressing rapidly. Mack also said that work at the Pennsylvania Grain Processing plant has also been progressing rapidly.

According to previously-published GANT News articles, once completed, the new plant will employ between 60-75 full-time workers. The plant will operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.

According to the previous articles, by next summer, the plant will produce 300 tons of dry ice per day, which will be shipped to the company’s buyers.

The new Continental Carbonic facility will collect the carbon dioxide emissions produced by the PGP ethanol plant. The carbon dioxide will be processed into dry ice.

Also at the meeting, the personnel committee reminded residents that the borough’s administration office and street department will be closed Friday, Nov. 10 in observance of Veterans Day.

The annual Veterans Day service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 11. Both offices will also be closed Nov. 23 and 24 for the Thanksgiving holiday.
