BEAVER FALLS — Senior safety Austin Jacobson (Curwensville) made his final appearance for Geneva at Reeves Field a special one with a career-high 11 tackles Saturday, but unbeaten Washington & Jefferson spoiled Senior Day for most of the 4,749 fans by defeating the Golden Tornadoes 31-17.
Three of his stops were solo, and his eight assists also were a personal best.
Geneva fell to 2-5 in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference and 3-6 overall.
Jacobson has played in eight games with 35 tackles, 17 of them solo and two for losses of 14 yards.

WORCESTER, Mass. — Junior kicker/punter Spencer Herrington (Clearfield) booted six extra points and punted twice for a 29-yard average as Worcester Polytechnic Institute sent 1,211 Senior Day fans home happy by routing the Coast Guard Academy 44-16 at Alumni Stadium Saturday.
The Engineers remained tied for second place in the New England Men’s and Women’s Athletic Conference at 5-1 and improved to 7-2.
Herrington leads the conference in kicking points with 63 on 36 consecutive PATS and nine field goals in 11 attempts with a long of 41 yards.
He’s averaged an even 34 yards on 42 punts and 61 yards on three kickoffs.

ANNVILLE — Junior center Brad Stubbs (Curwensville) and the Lycoming offense had their opportunities limited Saturday as host Lebanon Valley rode a 38:12-22:48 advantage for time of possession to a 20-17 Middle Atlantic Conference win with a crown of 4,360 on hand at Arnold Field.
The Warriors slipped back under .500 at 4-5 with their fourth loss in eight MAC games.

CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. — Junior linebacker Dusty Maines (Clearfield) assisted on one tackle for Thiel in a 56-7 Presidents’ Athletic Conference loss to host Thomas More in front of 2,583 fans at BB&T Field Saturday.
The Tomcats are 1-8 with a 1-6 PAC record.
Maines has appeared in every game with 11 solo tackles and one assist. He has made two stops in the backfield for losses of four yards.

BALTIMORE, Md. — Senior left guard Jon Janocko (Clearfield) saw his streak of 16 consecutive starts end, but he did see action in visiting Juniata’s 57-14 Centennial Conference loss to once-beaten Johns Hopkins Saturday.
The Eagles, who gained 371 yards but had five turnovers, tumbled to 3-6 with a 2-6 conference log.

MEN’S SWIMMING
MEADVILLE — Junior Michael Spencer (Clearfield) was a triplewinner for the second meet in a row as Westminster went on the road and dunked Allegheny 187-113 Saturday.
Spencer won the 50-yard freestyle in 22.16 seconds and the 100 butterfly in 54.76 and placed second in the 100 free in 49.57 before turning in a 21.62 third split for the Titans’ 200 free relay team that was victorious in 1:29.05.

SHIPPENSBURG — Freshmen freestylers Tate Swanson (Clearfield) and Hayden Steiner (Clearfield) contributed key points as Clarion recorded a narrow 105-100 win over Shippensburg in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference dual meet Friday evening.
Swanson earned first-place points for the first time by anchoring the Golden Eagle 200-yard medley foursome, stopping the clock at 1:39.63 with a 22.28-second split in the meet-opening event.
He also finished fourth in the 50 free in 23.09 and registered a 22.07 leg for the 200 free relay quartet that placed second in 1:28.51.
Steiner placed fifth in the 50 free in 23.58, recorded a 22.82 anchor leg for the ‘B’ 200 medley team that was third in 1:49.73 and a 23.78 leadoff split for the ‘B’ 200 free unit that was fourth in 1:34.76.
The Golden Eagles traveled to Pittsburgh Saturday and were handed a 218-83 non-conference setback by Carnegie Mellon.
Swanson lowered his 50 free time to 22.95 seconds to place fifth and was seventh in the 100 free in 50.74. He logged a 22.67 anchor leg for the 200 free relay quartet that was third in 1:29.15.
Steiner finished seventh in the 50 free in 23.58 and the 200 free in 1:57.21 and eighth in the 100 free in a personal-record 53.94.

WOMEN’S SWIMMING
ATHENS, Ohio — Sophomore Claire Mikesell (Clearfield) registered one of Ohio University’s eight wins with a 1:04.40 effort in the 100-yard breaststroke, but Buffalo had too much depth for the Bobcats and prevailed 161-131 in Saturday’s Mid-American Conference meet at the Ohio U. Aquatic Center.
Mikesell also placed eighth in the 100 freestyle in 53.99 and had a 24.47 second split for the 200 freestyle relay team that finished third in 1:36.84.
The Bobcats are 2-1.

WRESTLING
GRANTHAM — Lycoming sophomore 197-pounder Travis Ogden (Clearfield) split two bouts for Lycoming before bowing out of the Messiah Invitational because of an injury Saturday.
He opened by pinning Gettysburg’s Michael Iodice at 4:39 but ran into Elizabethtown’s Rocco Hladney in the semifinals and was beaten 21-6 by the eventual champion.
During his freshman season for the Warriors, Ogden finished 15-4 in dual meets and 27-11 overall, placing second in the Middle Atlantic Conference Championships and winning three of five matches in the NCAA Division III Mid-East Region Tournament.
He was on d3.wrestle.com’s honorable mention list going into the postseason and received similar recognition in that website’s preseason rankings.

CLARION — Pitt-Johnstown redshirt freshman Josiah McClarren (Clearfield) was 0-2 in the season-opening Clarion Open in the Student Recreation Center Sunday.
Listed as a 133-pounder on the Mountain Cat roster, he entered at 149 and was pinned at 2:09 by eventual runner-up Grant LaMont of Utah Valley and edged 8-7 by Evan Campbell of Bloomsburg.
McClarren dropped both of his matches during his redshirt season.

WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL
WILLIAMSPORT — Freshman Christine Limbert (Curwensville) played in 48 sets during 15 of Penn College of Technology’s 19 matches and recorded 52 kills and seven serving aces.
Defensively, the 5-10 outside hitter/middle blocker had 15 digs, six solo blocks and eight blocking assists.
The Wildcats finished 3-16 with a 2-6 North Eastern Athletic Conference record.
Limbert also will be playing basketball for the Wildcats, who open next Wednesday.
