RIDGWAY – Local quilters have collaborated with the Elk County Council on the Arts to organize a display of quilts for public view as a tribute to JoRae Yorns.

There are more than a dozen quilts on display from many local quilters, including Yorns, who passed in May of this year.

Yorns acquired her quilting skills from her grandmother when she was young. Her long-time dream was to own her own quilt shop and later in life she was able to realize that dream.

While she created countless quilts from the shop she ran in her home, she also helped and inspired many people through classes and mentoring.

Memories and stories of Yorns and the impact she had in the lives of everyone she met have been shared by nearly everyone who has seen the tribute since its opening.

The public is invited to view the quilts on display through Oct. 12 at the Elk County Council on the Arts Gallery, 237 Main St., Ridgway.

For more information, please contact Sara Frank, gallery coordinator, at art@eccota.com or 814-772-7051.
