CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield Area United Way recently delivered more than 125 books as part of its Reading Ripples Project.

The books were for children at the Clearfield County Housing Authority as part of a summer reading initiative.

The Clearfield Area United Way has now delivered more than 5,500 books since the project’s inception.

“We can all remember our favorite childhood books and the way it could fire your imagination,” stated CAUW President Debbie Bowser.

“Reading aloud is the single, most important thing you can do to help prepare a child for reading and learning.  And, this is one more way to get books into the hands of children … to inspire a love of reading.”

Gently-used books are collected for the Reading Ripples Project and then they are coordinated, processed and distributed.   The Clearfield Area United Way is always collecting gently-used children’s books.

“If an individual or group would like to do a collection, we will be more than happy to deliver those to children’s groups,” Nancy Pinto, CAUW, stated.
