CLEARFIELD – A Houtzdale woman accused of selling cocaine to an informant waived her right to a preliminary hearing during centralized court Wednesday at the Clearfield County Jail.
Catherine Renee Anderson, 34, has been charged by the Office of Attorney General with two, felony counts of manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver; a felony count of conspiracy/manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver; and a felony (third-degree) count of criminal use of a communications facility. Her bail was previously set at $50,000 monetary, which she has posted.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, on Jan. 5 an agent instructed a CI to contact Todd Anderson about purchasing an eight-ball of cocaine the next day.
When the CI made the arrangements, Todd Anderson stated he/she would have to get the cocaine from his wife, Renee, since he wouldn’t be at home. The agent made arrangements with the CI to proceed with the purchase.
The next day, the agent provided the CI with $300 to purchase the cocaine from Renee Anderson. The agent and CI departed for the Anderson residence in Houtzdale and were followed by a second agent and drug task force officers.
While en route, the CI made contact with Renee Anderson by cell phone. She told the CI that she was in a hurry to pick up her child at school. The CI told her they would be at her residence within the next few minutes.
Upon arrival, the CI exited the vehicle and the agent observed Renee Anderson walking out the back door of the residence. The CI approached her and shortly after, the agent could see Renee Anderson holding money up to her face.
The agent later learned Renee Anderson was holding the money that the CI had been provided to purchase the cocaine. When the CI returned to the vehicle, he/she turned over a small zip lock bag of cocaine allegedly purchased from Renee Anderson.
The agent turned over the cocaine to the Decatur Township police to field-test and secure it. The field-test yielded a positive result for the presence of cocaine, and it was sent to the PSP Erie Crime Laboratory for further analysis.
