DUBOIS – DuBois City’s application for a grant that will facilitate replacement of a portion of its outdated water treatment system has been approved by the Commonwealth Financing Authority, announced state Rep, Matt Gabler (R-Clearfield/Elk).
“The process for awarding these grants is competitive and based on criteria such as project readiness, cost effectiveness and potential for increased efficiency,” Gabler said.
“The system that is in place has served DuBois well but is overdue for replacement. I congratulate the city on its successful application.”
The grant, which amounts to more than $364,000, will allow the city to update its chemical feed and monitoring systems at the water treatment facility located in Union Township.
“Applicants had to match a portion of the grant, so the award alone will not fund the entire project,” added Gabler.
“With the funds that will be received, the plant will also be able to install cameras and motion detectors in order to increase safety around the facility.”
