Karen G. Hegarty, 70, of Brisbin died Thursday, Dec. 8, 2016 at UPMC Altoona Campus.
She was born March 23, 1946, a daughter of Harold R. and Mary (Lobb) Hegarty.
She retired from Moshannon Valley School District after 34 years of service and after having held various secretarial positions.
She was a member of the Madera United Methodist Church where she served as organist for many years. She enjoyed reading, yard work, needlework, music and especially her canine companion, Robby.
She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Ann Hegarty of New Millport; nieces, Linda Nelson of Pittsburgh and Besty Jeschke (Kurt) of State College; and a nephew, Randy (Devon) Hegarty of Spring Mills.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, infant Velma Jean and Lois Hegarty Nelson; and a niece, Joyce Nelson Rowles.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
