WILLIAMSPORT — Junior center Brad Stubbs (Curwensville) of Lycoming was one of five offensive linemen named to the 2016 All-Middle Atlantic Conference second team in voting by coaches of the 10 teams.
Stubbs was joined on the All-MAC squad by two offensive line mates, senior left tackle Bailey Hughes on the second unit and senior left guard Austin Mital (Moshannon Valley) on the honorable mention list.
The trio, who extended the Warriors’ streak of have at least two all-conference offensive linemen to six years, started all 10 games for one of the MAC’s top offenses, averaging 333.2 total yards.
They paved the way for first-team running back Blake Bowman to lead the conference in rushing yards (936) and rushing touchdowns (12) for the second year in a row.

WRESTLING
WILLIAMSPORT — Senior 165-pounder Nolan Barger (Clearfield) moved up two of Lycoming’s all-time lists with a pin and a major decision while freshman 197-pounder Travis Ogden (Clearfield) split his two bouts in the Warriors’ sweep of three visiting opponents in Lamade Gym Sunday.
Barger tied teammate Seth Lansberry for fourth place in career wins (112) by major decisioning Washington & Jefferson’s Alex Miller 12-0, winning by forfeit against Penn College and pinning Elizabethtown’s Daniel Jerrems in 1:22.
He ranks third in major decisions with 20.
Ogden pinned W&J’s William Oberschlep at 4:08 before losing 8-3 to Elizabethtown’s Luke Fernandez.
Lycoming (6-1) defeated W&J 39-5 and Elizabethtown 31-18 and won by forfeit over Penn College.
Barger, No. 3 in the latest d3wrestle.com rankings and No. 5 in last week’s National Wrestling Coaches Association rankings, is 7-0 in duals and 11-1 overall.
Ogden is off to a 7-4 start, including 4-2 in dual meets.

MEN’S SWIMMING
WASHINGTON, Pa. — Sophomore Michael Spencer (Clearfield) posted the fastest split of the race for the winning 200-yard freestyle relay foursome and placed in three individual events as Westminster improved to 3-1 with a 181-111 victory over Washington & Jefferson in their Presidents’ Athletic Conference opener last Wednesday.
His second leg of 21.49 seconds extended the Titans’ lead in the relay to almost two full seconds in their easy win in 1:27.50.
Spencer earlier placed second in the 50 free in 22.33 and the 100 butterfly in 56.37 and fourth in his first 100 free race of the season in 50.77.

MEN’S BASKETBALL
NEW WILMINGTON — Freshman Cody Spaid (Clearfield) debuted for Pitt-Greensburg with six points and seven rebounds in two season-opening losses at the Buzz Ridl Classic in Westminster’s Buzz Ridl Gymnasium.
The 6-7 forward scored five points, pulled down four rebounds and added one blocked shot and one assist in 15 minutes of the 89-62 loss to the host Titans Friday.
He recorded one point, three rebounds, one blocked shot and one steal against Thiel in a 94-50 loss Saturday.

WOMEN’S CROSS COUNTRY
BRONX, N.Y. — Senior Rebecca Johnson (Curwensville) ended her four-year career for the St. Francis Red Flash with a time of 22:32 over the 5,000-meter Van Cortland Park course in 22:32 at the 108th IC4A/31st ECAC Championships Saturday.
Her career-best times were 20:49.2 for 5,000 meters last year, 24:28 for 6,000 meters in her freshman season and 19.51 for three miles as a sophomore.
She will run distance for the Red Flash indoor and outdoor track teams.
