There’s no better time to be born in Cleveland, where the Indians are seeking their first World Series title since 1948.
Just ask the families of the little sluggers born this week in Cleveland Clinic’s Fairview Hospital.
The world-famous hospital is getting into the spirit by bundling newborns in Cleveland Indians onesies for the duration of the championship. Hopefully, none of them are Chicago Cubs fans.
The hospital shared its first batch of images of “World Series” babies on Tuesday, night of Game 1, prompting collective “awwwwws” from the internet.
The Cleveland Clinic followed up the social media announcement with a news release that stole all the puns.
“The smallest (and cutest) Cleveland Indians fans have been warming up in the bullpen for 9 months, and their call has finally arrived!”
Not to be outdone, Advocate Health Care hospitals across Illinois are doing the same thing this year for the Cubbies. The first few branded onesies were distributed Tuesday at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, just blocks from Wrigley Field.
It’s been known to happen before. For the 2013 National League Wild Card race between the Cincinnati Reds and the Pittsburgh Pirates, St. Clair Hospital in Lebanon, Pennsylvania, went full on pirate by outfitting newborns in the “Baby Bucco Bullpen” with bandanas and onesies.
