HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency today activated the state Commonwealth Response Coordination Center in response to flooding in north-central Pennsylvania.

“We started getting reports of significant flooding in Centre, Clinton, Lycoming, Bradford and Sullivan counties early this morning,” said PEMA Director Richard D. Flinn Jr.

“We’re working with state agency partners to make sure we provide every available state resource to help the counties respond to the needs of our citizens.”

The activation started at 5 a.m. with staff from PEMA, the departments of Health, Human Services, Environmental Protection, Transportation, and Military and Veterans Affairs, Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission, the Pennsylvania State Police and the American Red Cross.

The CRCC coordinates the deployment of state agency resources to counties that do not have the capability to respond as needed, or have exhausted all available resources at the county level.

The State Incident Management Team is on standby to deploy to any county to assist with recovery coordination and PEMA liaisons are en route to affected counties.
