BEAVER FALLS — Junior strong safety Austin Jacobson (Curwensville) logged a career-high eight tackles, including four solo stops, and also broke up one pass for the Geneva secondary in a 29-10 Presidents’ Athletic Conference loss to visiting Carnegie Mellon at Reeves Field Saturday night.
A crowd of 4892 saw the Tartans pull away in the fourth quarter to drop the Golden Tornadoes to 1-3 in the PAC and 2-4 overall.
Jacobson is the fifth-leading tackler for Geneva with 29, with 16 solo efforts. He has two tackles for losses of two yards and two pass break-ups.

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Sophomore linebacker Dusty Maines (Clearfield) had three solo tackles and assisted on another in Thiel’s 48-21 Presidents’ Athletic Conference loss to Case Western Reserve in front of 2,133 fans at DiSanto Field Saturday afternoon.
Maines had one tackle and two assists in his two previous appearances for the Tomcats, who are 2-4 with a 1-3 PAC record.

HUNTINGDON — Junior left guard Jon Janocko (Clearfield) made his fifth start for the Juniata offense that came to life late in the second period against visiting Ursinus at Knox Stadium Saturday afternoon, turning a 24-7 deficit into a 38-27 win.
The Eagles, 4-2 overall, piled up 554 total yards in padding their Centennial Conference record to 3-2.

WOMEN’S SOCCER
MIDDLETOWN — Freshman forward Raquel Grice (Clearfield) scored the game-winning goal in the 12th minute as Penn State Harrisburg defeated Wesley (Del.) 2-0 in Capital Athletic Conference action last Wednesday.
She sent a ball bouncing around in the box off the Wesley goalie for her second goal in six starts, including Saturday’s 2-1 loss to Marymount at Arlington, Va.
Grice also has one assist plus 10 shots, six on goal, since coming off the injury list.
The Lions are 6-9 with a 3-3 CAC record.

HAMBURG, N.Y. — Junior midfielder McKenna Aleksivich (Clearfield) registered her third goal of the season in Penn State Behrend’s 6-0 victory over host Hilbert Tuesday, Oct. 11, that kept the Lions undefeated in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference.
She lifted Ashlyn Whipple’s cross from the corner into the net with just two seconds remaining.
Sophomore midfielder Tessa Munshower (Clearfield) also saw action for the Lions, who went on the road to edge Franciscan (Ohio) 2-1 Saturday.
Penn State Behrend (11-4) sits atop the AMCC at 6-0.
Aleksivich has six points and fourth shots, three on goal, in four appearances, while Munshower has one assist and five shots in eight games.

CLARION — Junior midfielder/defender Carlee Freeberg (Clearfield) started on offense against Slippery Rock Tuesday, Oct. 12, and on defense at Shippensburg Saturday as Clarion dropped close Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference games after scoring first.
The Golden Eagles (2-12-1, 2-11-1 PSAC) struck for two goals in the first 2:39 against The Rock but wound up on the short end of a 3-2 score at Memorial Stadium Tuesday.
They were unable to make a goal in the 11th minute stand up at Shippensburg Saturday and bowed 2-1.
Freeberg has started every game with one assist and one shot on goal.

WOMEN’S CROSS COUNTRY
BUFFALO, N.Y. — St. Francis (Pa.) junior Rebecca Johnson (Curwensville) lowered her season-best time to 21:54.4 for the 5,000-meter Canisius Alumni Classic at the Delaware Park Golf Course Saturday.
She finished 97th among the 135 runners from 12 teams in the race, seven in Division I.
The Red Flash were the Division I winners with a score of 44 that edged host Canisius by five points.
