DUBOIS – Students in Jan Kness’ art classes at DuBois Central Catholic Elementary recently collected items for both the Gateway Humane Society and the Clearfield County SPCA.
Kness’ students have been supporting rescue activities by providing supplies for the past 20 years.
According to Kness, the effort started when she taught third grade at St. Catherine’s Elementary School in the mid 1990’s and her class was reading Audubon Adventure, a newspaper for students, and discovered they could support rescue animals, too.
“And the rest is history!” she concludes. Kness is seen holding her own rescue dog, Barney, as he visited the students at school recently to say thanks!
