Obituary Notice: Andrew P. Hess Sr.

Andrew P. Hess Sr., 80, of Clearfield died Saturday, May 28, 2016 at the Mountain Laurel Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Clearfield.

Mr. Hess was born April 1, 1936, the son of Amos L. and Ruth A. (Johnson) Hess.

He had worked for the former tannery in Curwensville and Zimmerman’s Concrete.

He is survived by five children, Francis Rodney (Hess) Passmore and his wife, Kathy of Ringgold, Berdina M. McWilliams and her companion, Edward Penoyer of Union City, Ramona L. Seyler and her companion, Alvin Way of Clearfield and Aaron P. Hess Sr., and his wife, Leslie and John E. Hess and his wife, Danielle, all of DuBois.

He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren; three brothers, Richard Hess and his wife, Ann of Hyde, Edward Hess and his wife, Mary Jane of Curwensville and James Hess; a sister, Mary Harris; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Hess was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Ruth Kurten; his second wife, Carrie P. (Smeal) Hess; a son, Andrew P. Hess Jr.; two brothers, William and Amos Hess; and four sisters, Ramona Hess, Sarah Rowles, Rhoda Billotte and Ruth Luzier.

Honoring Andrew’s wishes, there will be no public visitation. Burial will be in Palestine Cemetery. A Celebration of Life Service will be announced at a later date.

The family suggests that contributions be made to the Bennett & Houser Funeral Home Inc., 312 E. Locust St., Clearfield, PA 16830.
